Adam Goldsmith
I was born
July 19, 2005 at 8:05 am, at Avista Adventist Hospital in Louisville, Colorado.
I was 7 lbs, 12 oz and 20 3/4 inches long.
That's me right after I was born!
About my name
My full name is Adam Samuel Goldsmith.
Adam was chosen mainly because my parents like the name. Being the "first man" in the family, the name seems to fit.
Samuel was chosen as my middle name to honor two important people. My mommy's paternal grandfather Sam "Cy" Gershone and my daddy's maternal grandfather Solomon Brody. My mommy was very close to her Zaide Cy. My daddy never met his grandpa Sol, but has heard a lot about what a great person he was.
I also have a Hebrew name, since I'm Jewish. My Hebrew name is Adam Porat.
Adam (Ah dahm') is the Hebrew equivalent of Adam. It comes from the Hebrew word adama, meaning "earth" and also is the name of the first man G-d created.
Porat (Poh raht') was chosen as my Hebrew middle name to honor another important person, my mommy's maternal grandmother Phyllis Paper. Porat is Hebrew for "fruitful". In the Torah, Jacob described his son Joseph as a "fruitful son," and it has become the description of a handsome or clever boy. I hope to be fruitful someday!
